At Imm Cologne Kemie introduces first solid ceramic worktop
04/02/2013 - Kitchen worktop producer Kemie is the first to introduce a kitchen worktop out of solid, 1 cm thick slabs of ceramics. In this way this revolutionary producer from Asten has once again taken the lead. “Ceramics is the future”, says Geert-Jan Engbers, chief executive at Kemie. “This is why we already focused on this material in 2005 and we recognise an enormous number of possibilities for these solid slabs, which we are bringing onto the market under the name of Ceramas. We are incredibly proud that we are the first company in Benelux to make ceramic worktops.”

That it is actually Kemie which is first in this, is not exceptional. The most eye-catching example is the joint edging which we introduced in 2001 under the name of VX. This edging later became the norm. In 1995 the kitchen worktop specialist was one of the first to come up with the material composite (Cosmostone). In 2005 we recognised the possibilities of ceramic worktops and with Ceramistone have meanwhile set the market in motion.

In addition to new materials, Kemie has always been a forerunner in the processing and completion of kitchen worktops and it therefore invests intensively in the most advanced machines for producing kitchen worktops. As early as 1994 the company purchased an extremely modern CNC processing machine at that time and this strategy has always been applied. For this reason the company was also able to seize the opportunities that Ceramistone offered in 2005. Kemie recognised the many possibilities of the material and was capable of carrying out the processes itself. This is also the case now with the new material Ceramas.

Ceramas
In Ceramas worktops all the good characteristics of kitchen worktops are united: they are scratch-proof, resistant to acid and heat, and simple to clean. Ceramas kitchen worktops are available in the maximum measurements of 3.60 by 1.20 metres and for the time being in ten different colours. The thickness of the base material is 10 mm.Kemie
