12/04/2017 - Since its debut one year ago, the young wallpaper brand Texturae comes back to the Milano Design Week with new collections designed by 10 Italian and international designers. A project realized with the direction of Chiara Andreatti.

The designers selection – they explain – was driven by the idea to give rise to an eclectic collection, able to reinvent any place and to give space to multiple aesthetic interpetations.

Multiple aesthetic paths are proposed. From the universe of dusts and crystals evoked by the Canadian Jakub Zack and by the duo ZanellatoBortotto to the severity of the graphisms by Ahok or the Korean Chung Eun-Mo. From the pride of the almost optical brushings by the duo Palomba Serafini to the explosive overlapping of colour backgrounds by the Dutch Brit Van Nerven; from the fine Eastern inspirations by Vito Nesta to the surreal photographic inspirations by the New York Alex Proba; from the sharp contrasts of the drapes by Servomuto reminding of far places and bygone times to the intriguing and metaphysical trompe-l'oeil by Elisa Ossino.

An interesting exhibition hosted inside the former Casa dell’Opera Nazionale Balilla, via Pietro Mascagni, showed the new collections through a path divided into 11 different rooms, making the visitors totally dive into colour and geometry. The set of each room was made up of wallpapers and carpets by Karpeta, a brand set up seven years ago from the vision of its entrepreneur, Daniele Morabito, cooperating with Simona Scollica in this project.

Five brand new collections, all of them made precious by the inspirations of famous national and international designers, and a sixth collection reproposing the most successful pieces presented in the previous years. Apart from the tradtional lines of carpets made in taffeta and woven on the hand loom, this year Karpeta has presented three new products refreshing the ancient tradition of the knotted and kilim products and facing the new and at the same time ancient technique of hand print. Different in their language, but unique in their spirit, the carpets of the seventh collection are unique products, the desired expression of culture contamination passing from convoys to informatics networks.

Graphisms, abstract geometries, spots of colours which can become possible flora, anatomies of emotions revive in the collection “Nodi” (Knots) that, thanks to the visionary pencils of RosemarieAuberson, Valentina Cameranesi, Studio Charlie, Casalinghe di Tokyo, José Mendoza, turns the ancient art of knotted products into state-of-the-art design.

Sharp contrasts, hypnotic networks, unexpected tromp l’oeil, net colours are the alphabet of the collection “Trame” (Weaves) wishing to be the new literature of the hand-woven carpet, inspired by designers such as Stefania Crippa, New friends, Lio De Bruin, Studio Tomorrow and Valentina Cameranesi.

The new carpets of the collection “Velluto” (Velvet) play with colours, contrasts and perspectives, thus designing a space otherwise unthinkable. This new collection combines the softness of the hand-woven carpets in taffeta with the biting and visionary creative impulse of designers such as BCXSY and Lio De Bruin.

Precious as tapestries, surprising and hypnotic as modern art paintings, the carpets of the collection “Raw” make the kilim art independent from traditional design and contaminate it with lunar landscapes, dot-like lines and unexpected shade overlaps.

Inspired by the pencils of Elsa Bock, FerreolBabin, Giulia Ferraris, Studio Testo represents a bridge between an ancient technique and a new aesthetic expression. Printed with hand-carved wooden tables, the creations of the line “Print”, made precious by the pencils of Studio Charlie, are fantasy turned into yarn.
