26/04/2018 - During the Fuorisalone, at the brand’s Milan showroom at Corso Monforte No. 15, Flos has presented ʻJewels after Jewels after Jewelsʼ, a spectacular lighting installation by the designer Michael Anastassiades, celebrating the launch of his new collection of chandeliers Arrangements.

ʻI have always been fascinated by the analogy that exists between Lighting and Jewelry. Simply starting from how each piece relates to the human scale: one is designed to be worn on the body whereas the other is made to decorate the space someone occupies. Seeing how the delicate nature of something small can be translated spatially and still manages to retain its preciousness in the way materials are presented is a real challenge to me. It is no coincidence that the word ‘pendant’ has a double meaning: a piece of jewelry that hangs from a chain worn around the neck and a light designed to hang from the ceiling.ʼ - Michael Anastassiades

The magnificent installation expands throughout the entire Flos showroom, while the long vitrine in the external atrium previews the concept of this extraordinary lighting project with a sophisticated display of miniaturized geometries, combined in the Flos logo.

Midway between a light sculpture and an industrial design object, Arrangements is a modular system of geometric LED elements that can be combined in multiple compositions as single or even connected chandeliers. The modules are easily fixed together electrically and mechanically, perfectly balancing on each other to create the dramatic effect of a big chain of light. Each combination can be changed anytime, with a different order, type or quantity of elements, with no need of technical assistance.

Also the configurator ‘Make your Arrangements’ was presented: it is available on the website flos.com to discover in a very simple, intuitive way, through dedicated tablets, how to configure your own chandelier in lots of original combinations, starting from each single element, according to your needs or just to your liking. Researched and developed by Flos, it is characterized by a user-friendly language allowing users to compose and save their desired configuration of Arrangements.

In the showroom, tablets will also be available to the public to watch the short film ʻMichaelʼ. Directed by Leone Balduzzi of C41, this is the second film produced by Flos for ‘The Light Minded’, a series of cutting-edge video-stories on the creative minds that collaborate with Flos, published at regular intervals on the new website flos.com. The film ʻMichaelʼ, featuring the story of Michael Anastassiades, reveals with delicacy and poetic intimacy the life, vision and creative inspiration of one of the most talented designers of our time.
