22/03/2012 - From the 16th to the 22nd of April Moooi is proud to present its new collection at its showroom in Milan for the 51st edition of Il Salone Internazionale del Mobile. In via Tortona 37 you will experience a variety of new creations by Marcel Wanders and Studio Job together with the new photography concept by Erwin Olaf and Marcel Wanders.
You are welcome to enter the world of Moooi and enjoy the sparkling glamour of Marcel Wanders’ Valentine and Baby Valentine, the perfect magic lamps. Walk around and admire the towering force of the Big Ben wall clock by Marcel Wanders and the vintage charm of his Container New Antiques table, the latest addition to the ever-growing Container family. Take some time to savour the forgotten atmospheres & decorative character of Studio Job’s Altdeutsche Möbel collection and consider the details of its joyful, intricate pattern of life. You will witness the playful wisdom of the Grandfather Clock, the magic mystery of the Blanket Chest and the symbolic décor of Studio Job’s amusing Cupboard. To top it all Marcel Wanders’ new covers for the Boutique sofa & cushions, Delft Blue Jumper and Delft Grey Jumper, cannot miss to make their entry during the event of the season and exhibit their latest soft and delicate patterns.
Take the time to observe Moooi’s two family extensions and product updates: the Monster Barstool as an extension of the Monster family and the new Paper Chandelier XL as an extension of the Paper family, followed by designs with upgraded technical applications such as the Mask Lamp with LED lights and the Heracleum II lamp with a surprising improved technology.
The new photography concept by Erwin Olaf and Marcel Wanders will be introduced for the first time at the Moooi showroom in Milan hand in hand with the new collection. “Inside the Box” is the theme of a series of photographs which artistically portray a Moooi product literally inside a box, as a gift which is further protected, almost humanly wrapped by a naked person.
The model & the design merge inside the box, blending the creators with the creations in the warm embrace of a silent, dreamy world. Inspired by the new photography concept Moooi decides to offer this abstract experience to the public of Il Salone Internazionale del Mobile by inviting them inside the box for an interactive photo shoot. The photos will be showcased real time on Moooi’s homepage as a memory of this fun experience.
Moooi is also proud to announce that the Frame Moooi Award 2012 ceremony will take place in Milan during the week of Il Salone Internazionale del Mobile, the perfect setting to reward the winner.
Moooi and Frame magazine have always believed in the labor of love and great potential of creative designers. Based on this belief, the two parties have joined forces in order to raise the bar for furniture and interior design to an all-new level. The Frame Moooi Award targets interior designers and architects who have custom designed furniture and/or lamps for a specific interior, respecting certain architectural needs dictated by the context in which the design item has to function and flourish. Combining the interests of Frame and Moooi, this unique award stimulates architects and designers to select or create the perfect innovative furniture and/or lamps to match an original interior and it strengthens the bond between (interior) architects and product designers in a fresh way.
The Frame Moooi Award 2012 press preview, ceremony and party will take place on Wednesday April 18th in Milan. To make this occasion even more exclusive, internationally-admired design icon Philippe Stark (juror of the Frame Moooi Award 2012) will crown the winner. Marcel Wanders will announce the shortlist and the ceremony will be hosted by renowned design opinion leader Michele Caniato (President, Culture & Commerce).
