Timber frames

Timber structural system

Manufacturer Nordhaus

Timber frames have been used to construct buildings since time out of mind. Ancient buildings, many still in use today, such as mountain lodges and alpine refuges, were built using this traditional system, which has been now updated using new technology and breathes life into to a wall, whose strength is its flexibility. The wall, whose supporting structure is traditionally made of a fir or spruce frame, can be put together using various insulation materials (wood fibre, mineral wool minerals, cellulose etc.) and different types of cladding panels. The result of these combinations gives life to many types of wall, each of which is designed with a particular use in mind (protection from the cold or heat, thermal lagging, sound insulation etc.). Timber framed structures are prefabricated on-site at Fanti Sawmill and Lumberyard, using mainly local materials hauled from its point of origin by the same firm. In any case, in order to safeguard the environment and the client, the traceability of the material is certified by the rigorous PEFC protocol, which guarantees not only the provenance of the material, but also its passage through the production chain (i.e. guaranteeing that all phases after its felling conform to the norms in force).
