Hexagonal die cast aluminium coffee table
The designer Alexander Girard was one of the leading figures in American design during the postwar era. In 1967, he presented the Hexagonal Table as part of his furniture collection ‚The Girard Group‘.
The most striking feature of this occasional table is its six-sided table top in polished aluminium: Girard, a master designer of fabrics, colours, patterns and textures, inscribed it with a three-dimensional pattern of triangles, which can reflect rays of light as a geometric motif on the wall. This structure and its playful visual effects counter the cool materiality of the design, whose elegantly splayed four-legged base is also produced in die-cast aluminium.
- Table top: polished die-cast aluminium, top thickness 12.6 mm.
- Base: polished die-cast aluminium.
