The "wind wall" DS-9050 is designed by Philippe Bestenheider. The byobu (literally: “wind wall”) is a traditional Japanese folding screen made of rice-paper that dates back to the 8th century. Starting with the concept of this screen, designer Philippe Bestenheider has created a
three-dimensional filigree structure consisting of a metal frame covered with a fibre material made from cellulose and paper. The tear-proof lengths of fabric are woven through the frame and act as flexible hinges. The material gives the screen an impression of airy lightness. Its three sections
allow the DS-9050 screen to be positioned in a straight line, angled or even folded to create a star shape. One particularly intriguing design element is the hand-crafted leatherwork used to attach the screen’s covering to its frame. This exciting screen is available in a variety of colour combinations.
