Oak decorative object / game
Traditionally, owls carry with them an air of wisdom and mysticism. Paul Anker’s interpretation from 1960 is no exception. The owl can embody a variety of emotions. The head is attached to the body by a magnet, which gives it flexibility to be tilted and rotated in all directions. The carefully crafted large eyes in either wenge or maple wood gives a smooth touch and reflect a keen insight. Whether it is wonder, contemplation, or curiosity, the owl can be perceived to echo our own thought.
A veterinarian by profession, Paul Anker Hansen began his design career by making small gifts for himself and his family. Anker’s design philosophy is based on pure passion for creation that culminates in making every day objects, which bring joy to one’s life. As a young boy, Paul Anker grew up surrounded by greenery in the heart of the island called Bornholm. He was especially fascinated by owls and often observed the mystical creatures in twilight hours as they sat high in trees and howled into distance. One time during the evening hours an owl descended extraordinarily close to Paul and let out an extraordinary sound. Fascinated by the encounter, Anker took to the workbench in 1960 to create his own interpretation capturing the mystical, yet serene bird. The Owl comes in natural or smoked oak wood.
