Wooden sideboard with sliding doors
Wood, Ceramic, Clay
Artsan design sideboard PECHYVO (“pechyvo” in Ukrainian – cookies, cracker) is a part of FAINA collection, an ethno minimalistic furniture collection inspired by culture and nature of Ukraine. This roomy sideboard has one unique and at the same time very simple element - a clay/ceramic sliding door with a shape that reminds cookie. The idea was born from the traditional cookies, which in Ukrainian family mother usually cooked for the children and treat in the form of heat with milk. Clay facade gives to this cabinet very warm and homely vibe. Ceramic is one of the oldest building material in human history, however you will not find many design objects with it nowadays. Clay is very plastic, timid, but not easy to work with. While constructing this sideboard, we had to change 8 sculptors in order to get the desired result - that ceramic details of the furniture were durable, textured and still looking interesting in the aesthetic sense. Materials of the sideboard PECHYVO: solid wood (ash) and clay/ceramics. Doors of cabinet are made of clay and they are impact-resistant. The base is made of solid ash.
