LOOM BY PTOLEMY MANN | Low stool
Low oak stool
Solid Wood, Oak
The Loom Collection has a very specific inspiration, a manual belt-making loom typical from the city of Oaxaca, Mexico. This seating range reinterprets the logic of the simple loom beams and the vertical journey of each thread, playing with the idea of independent threads coming together to create a woven surface. The strong elastic polyester woven cord offers infinite possibilities, as each thread can be specified in a different colour. Available in a selection of solid wood and eight different colours of woven cords.
Hierve’s Loom stool has been reimagined by British artist and textiles designer Ptolemy Mann.
The four-legged Loom stool pays homage to the ancient folk art of Mexican weaving. Threads of elastic polyester woven cord are stretched to provide a comfortable seating experience.
Mann has produced a series of compositions, using the interrelationships of the threaded cord to create intriguing patterns and colour combinations. Her woven compositions are available in beautifully combined shades of green, deep blue and yellow. The frame has been precisely carved by a computer-controlled CNC machine and then carefully sanded and finished by hand. The Loom stool is available in a choice of solid oak and American walnut.
