Contemporary style chair
Solid Wood, Polyester, Beech
Peter Maly is constantly seeking the greatest possible simplicity of form with a view to designing products which are both comfortable and durable.
Apparent simplicity sometimes requires great resources: the structure and base of the LR 737 chair are solidly constructed in a high-quality traditional dovetail manner which echoes the virtuosity of the taut interlacing of fabric on the seat and back.
As almost always, Peter Maly’s design rests on elementary geometric forms, guarantees of their durability. Here, the square is at the fore, whether in the shape of the seat and back or the section of the legs. Or more subtly, the small squares of wood of the structure which are left on show, or the way in which the webbing crosses over itself in the corners. And of course, in the motifs traced out by the interlacing of the webbing which plays with light for a matt-gloss effect.
Yet its angles are opportunely softened by the ergonomic deep curves of the seat and back and the assertive curve of the rear legs.
