Round porcelain stoneware coffee table

Porcelain stoneware

A simple shape, a traditional material and a modern decoration is the essence of Nicholai Wiig Hansen’s table, NW1. With it’s Nordic colors, NW1 is part of Normann Copenhagen’s Danish furniture line that combines Danish design tradition and production in new designs. The inspiration behind the table’s colors springs from Nordic painters like Lundstrøm and Munck where especially the colors blue, green, brown and beige are used. Art is a natural source of inspiration for Nicholai Wiig Hansen who has grown up in a artistic family. Nicholai Wiig Hansen wanted to create a table out of a traditional material with reference to the Nordic countries. Typical for the colors of the Nordic nature is that they change according to the light which makes the table alive and organic in its surroundings. In that sense the table is well-balanced and an uncompromising piece of furniture, where design and art meet – a furniture with a unique artistic mode of expression. Nicholai Wiig Hansen explains: ”The basis was to work totally without compromises and with regards to trends and tendencies. I wanted to create a larger object with a well-known Nordic decoration in stoneware. Traditionally stoneware is used for small objects like teapots and bowls. For me it was important to design a timeless piece of furniture where the human workmanship plays a central part. I love the fact that you can see that the table is made by hands.” NW1 is hand thrown out of 62 kilo wet clay at a Danish potter workshop. The table is decorated by hand which makes every piece unique. The table is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Color: Multi colored – more than 20 colours Material: Stoneware Dimensions: NW1 Low: H:30cm, ø 60cm NW1 High: H:43cm, ø 45 cm
