Nomad Chair is a rediscovered Scandinavian modern classic; inspired by the legendary Roorkhee Chair named in honor of the British military officers stationed at Roorkhee in India. Just like it’s military predecessor, The Nomad Chair is light in weight, highly portable, exceptionally strong, and very comfortable.
This is achieved by constructing the chair from a series of turned bamboo plywood parts which are fitted into each other without glue, being held together by a combination of leather straps and canvas seat and back. When someone sits in the chair, the straps, arms, seat, and back all act under tension to keep the whole structure in place while, at the same time, allowing it to adjust to uneven ground and remain perfectly stable (actually, the heavier the occupant the more stable the chair becomes).
All this in a chair that can be assembled or disassembled in a matter of seconds and transported in a compact package. Nomad Chair is made from certified moso bamboo, one of the most sustainable natural resources the world has. Additionally, all leather and canvas fabrics produced without the use of harmful chemicals, such as chromium tanning and unnatural dyeing.
