Alma Design is a family business founded in 2007 in the heart of Franciacorta in Brescia province. Alessandra Marchina, with her daughters Francesca and Lorenza, initially focused on contract furniture but over time the company broadened its production to include residential and outdoor furnishings. With the explicit mission of promoting Made-in-Italy products by creating simple, functional and versatile objects suitable for any context and style, Alma Design has carved out a significant international role by combining aesthetics and technology with an efficient and rational organisational model. Mainly focused on chairs and tables, the brand's production is distinguished by fresh and innovative design and accurate and detail-oriented artisanship. In addition to functionality and harmonious proportions, Alma Design's design team, supported by established designers, is particularly attentive to colours and materials, especially for upholstery. At times bright and lively and at times in delicate pastels, colour defines and distinguishes the personalities of Alma Design products.
Alma Design, chairs and tables for the residential and contract sector
Recently, Alma Design has carefully restyled some of its contract collections to make them attractive for residential use. Among these, the X Collection, famous for having furnished renowned TV living rooms, includes a series of chairs and tables for public structures and all-around domestic and dining contexts. The X Big armchair, available in both fixed and swivel versions, is characterised by an enveloping seat and the characteristic X-shaped legs in steel, aluminium or painted ash, which give it a vintage look. The numerous variations of the X chairs, which come with different types of legs, armrests and cushions, make the collection suitable for furnishing any space. In addition to the X Collection, Alma Design proposes contract solutions from the most luxurious to the most accessible. The latest is the Scala armchair, presented at the Salone del Mobile 2019. Elegant and refined, with a pleated cover that evokes a sumptuous dress, Scala is characterised by a soft and enveloping shape. At the same event, the company also presented the Magenta collection, which recalls urban life in the elegant and refined Milanese district bearing the same name. The Magenta system includes a modular sofa, dining tables, coffee tables, chairs and armchair characterised by a timelessly elegant and classic design. Composed of two uniquely shaped shells and soft upholstery, leaving the outside of the curved ash wood shell exposed, the Lips armchair is one of the most iconic objects in the Alma Design catalogue. With its steel sled frame and curved beech plywood shell, the Amarcord lounge armchair is characterised by its essential design and extraordinary lightness despite its generous dimensions. Perfect for waiting rooms, Amarcord can also complement bedrooms and lounge areas. A sophisticated and contemporary version of traditional 1950s seating, the Virna chair collection was created to furnish restaurants and public spaces. The chair’s formal simplicity is enlivened by the contrast between the solid wood structure and the polypropylene seat and back.
Alma Design outdoor furniture
The Alma Design catalogue also includes interesting proposals for outdoor furnishings for public outdoor spaces and hotels. The outdoor products are made of polyethene or technopolymer formed by an air moulding technique to guarantee high quality and incredible detail. All of Alma Design's garden furniture is UV-resistant, lightweight and easy to move around. The Jo armchair, in both the mono- and bi-colour versions, is perfect for outdoor areas in bars and restaurants and also comes in a stool version. Available in trendy colours - from black to turquoise to coral, beige and white - the stackable Amy chair, with or without armrests, is characterised by an essential, light and harmonious design. The stool, with the low 2525 JR version, is a highly versatile product. The characteristic conical shape has two openings, one in the middle and one under the seat, which serve respectively as a footrest/bag holder or a grip for moving it around. The hollow shape makes the stool perfectly stackable and it can also be illuminated from the inside with LED lighting. The Pepper garden pouf is an iconic and multifunctional product. Its grooved shape is reminiscent of the vegetable that gives it its name and can be transformed into a side table or stool when necessary. Available in 7 trendy colours, Pepper can be illuminated from within with LED lighting. The ICE garden table, with a conical base and a very thin square top, is characterised by high resistance to shock, atmospheric agents and salt in marine environments.
