B&B Italia established B&B Italia Project in 2006. The company's furniture division for contract and public spaces was founded with the experience gained during the brand's many collaborations with international designers and architecture studios. This experience enabled B&B to develop a collection of ergonomic, functional and refined furnishings designed and engineered to meet the needs of offices, restaurants, hotels and public spaces. High-quality design furnishings like modular sofas with flexible and modular structures, office chairs and desks respond to the needs of modern offices and the HO.RE.CA. sector.

Sofas, armchairs and coffee tables: the lounge according to B&B Italia Project

B&B Italia Project's sofas, sectional sofas and armchairs for the contract sector target hotels, restaurants and offices. The striking and versatile products last over time, resisting both use and the evolution of taste, adapting to different contexts thanks to their contemporary and sober style. In the AC Lounge collection, Antonio Citterio reinterprets classic capitonné, covering the seat and back of armchairs, sofas and ottomans with a contemporary spirit. David Chipperfield developed Posa, a versatile and resistant seating collection that meets rigorous requirements while conveying a sense of luxury and refinement. Jasper Morrison designed Bankside, an armchair and sofa initially conceived for the prestigious Tate Gallery of Modern Art in London, capable of responding simultaneously to the needs of a public context and those of domestic space. If it is true that the difference lies in the details, many B&B Italia furnishings enter the Project Collection thanks to subtle changes that allow them to be used in the contract sector. This is the case of the George sofa by Antonio Citterio, who rethinks a project for the home collection, revising the seat and back cushions to offer a higher, more formal model. Similarly, Jeffrey Bernett's Metropolitan'14 is a reinterpretation of the original design that slims down the volumes and makes the surfaces more fluid by integrating the seat cushion. The four-spoke base becomes more flexible thanks to finishes in glossy brushed aluminium, bronzed nickel, or black painted chrome. The design is completed by a range of small tables with HPL laminate tops and furnishing accessories like the stainless steel Dip Double Dip bench, sculptural monoliths for indoor and outdoor use. They are created by milling, bending and welding, playing on the contrast between the soft, curved hollowed-out and protruding shapes and the more rectilinear elements.

B&B Italia Project and the designer office

The office world is a key sector for B&B Italia Project Collection with high-performance, ergonomic and refined seats like Iuta, by Antonio Citterio. This line of swivel armchairs with armrests, chairs and stools use a technical grey wire mesh shell with aluminium edges. Sina by Uwe Fischer is a swivel armchair with a strong personality that combines a base in polished, brushed cast aluminium with four or five spokes and an external shell in white thermoplastic material that is padded and upholstered with fabric or leather. Executive offices are also the focus of projects such as AC Executive, again by Antonio Citterio. It is a complete range of furniture for high-end offices, meeting rooms and home offices. Monica Armani created the Progetto 1 system of desks, consoles and multi-purpose tables that combine a polished chrome-plated steel structure with tops in extra-light white painted glass, brushed light oak, grey oak or fumigated stained oak.
