Founded in 2005 by the Maurizi brothers in Mogliano in the Marche region, Braid specialises in the production of garden furniture. The brand's story began in the 1950s, when Luigi Maurizi, an expert weaver, opened his workshop. In the 1970s, the founder's son, Giuseppe, who introduced hand-woven wicker and rattan, took the step from bags and small accessories into furniture production. The third generation projected the family as a future leader in the high-end outdoor furniture sector, adding synthetic fibres to replace the less resistant natural ones and precious materials like wood and aluminium. The Braid catalogue offers a varied and diversified range of outdoor furniture, including lounge chairs, garden tables and dining chairs. In operation since the its inception, the creative atelier, Braid Lab, develops products, materials and aesthetics. The laboratory makes life-size prototypes and carries out testing using well-established protocols, collaborating with emerging designers and renowned studios like Angeletti-Ruzza Design and Carlo Colombo. Quality design unites the company's basic values rooted in craft artistry, refined finishes and fine materials.
Braid outdoor sofas and armchairs: design for every need
Created by renowned designers or by the company's own workshop, the Braid sofa and armchair collections are distinguished by careful design and various styles. The Essential collection, designed by Peter Ivone, is characterised - as its name suggests - by essential lines and rigorous geometry. A distinct element is the powder-coated metal rod that creates the frames forming parallelepipeds to which the seating elements, which appear suspended, are fixed. The collection includes a garden lounger, a pouffe, a sectional sofa and two garden tables in different sizes. The Zoe collection recalls woven fibres with its aluminium and polyethene Silver Dust structure that gives off iridescent reflections. Despite their rigorous geometry, the seats are comfortable thanks to the generous cushions upholstered in resistant outdoor fabric. In addition to two- and three-seater sofas, the collection includes an outdoor armchair, a low sun lounger, a high sun lounger and occasional tables in various sizes. The Mahè seating line by Angeletti Ruzza Design, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use, is distinguished by its pure, sculptural forms. The collection has infinitely modular elements consisting of a seat, armrest and backrest, as well as pouffes, dormeuse and loungers that can be used with the modules or as stand-alone pieces. Refined aesthetics and eclectic style characterise the Metropolitan collection by Carlo Colombo. The powder-coated aluminium frame in three colours - white, taupe or gold - alternates straight lines with the curved lines of the backrest finished with vertical polyester strips. The seats are completed by a square cushion. The collection comprises modular elements, a two-seater sofa, an armchair, a pouffe and a sun lounger.
