Values of Came
Social responsibility, environmental protection, development of human capital and a focus on the quality of both products and service are the core values of the Came company philosophy.
In 2008, the company was one of the first in the Veneto region to draft a social budget, an instrument that certifies its social, environmental and economic policy and ongoing investment in research and innovation. For years now, Came has, in fact, invested 5% of its turnover in research and development, taking advantage of a team of 110 specialised designers, set to grow by 10% by the end of 2017.
In 2013, the company also drew up a Code of Ethics, with the objective of defining the values that it recognises, accepts and shares when carrying out its business and in its corporate activities. Believing in the value of certifying the quality of its business processes and driven by attention to environmental protection, for years now, Came S.p.A. has adopted an Integrated Quality and Environment Management System, compliant with the ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 international standards. Over the years, it has also obtained other important international certification, such as OHSAS 18001 regarding occupational health and safety, a symbol of a responsible way of being and doing business.
The company is based in Dosson di Casier, in the province of Treviso, and has production facilities in Treviso, Sesto al Reghena (PN), Avignon (France), Barcelona (Spain) and London (England). Owned by the Menuzzo family, Came S.p.A. has kept close links with its Italian roots, but is also driven by a strong focus on internationalisation, thanks to 21 branches and 480 distributors and trading partners in 118 countries. The Group currently has more than 1,400 employees worldwide and recorded a turnover of €230 million in 2014.
Quest for quality
In order to guarantee the quality of its products, Came certifies them, making use of partnerships with authoritative bodies and accredited test houses. The company has also set up an internal laboratory for Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) and Electrical Safety (LVD) testing, ensuring the certification, verification and reliability process is in place from the very first stages of product development. With the aim of always seeking perfection in its solutions and efficiency in its production processes, Came has created a solid chain able to meet market requirements and combine Italian excellence with large international entities.
The group structure
The design centre and nerve centre of all of Came’s engineering is the headquarters in Dosson di Casier, reflecting the Group’s choice to design in Italy. In the offices in the Treviso area, the company uses external suppliers with which it has established a relationship of mutual trust in over 40 years in business to assemble its products.
The production sites, in perfect synergy with the development centre, are located in strategic points that make it possible to integrate all-Italian quality with the best technologies offered by European entities.
Parkare, a leading designer of advanced parking systems, is based in Barcelona, the heart of the Smart City; Urbaco is located in France, a country that has always been at the forefront in urban control and the birthplace of automatic bollards.
In the United Kingdom, on the other hand, Came has focused its attention on a site specialising in entry panel technologies, while in Italy, the Group is completed by the development hub in Sesto al Reghena, a cutting-edge centre for electronic design, and with the expertise of GO, synonymous with quality in all-Italian manufacturing. Demonstrating Came’s ability to manufacture technological products, with top-class design, strictly all-Italian, is the prestigious award that ADI (the Italian Association for Industrial Design) has awarded to XVia, the turnstile designed to welcome visitors to Expo 2015 in Milan, by including it in the ADI Design Index and thus guaranteeing its candidature at the next edition of the ADI Compasso d’Oro, the most authoritative global design prize.
History of Came
The Came Group, present for over 60 years on the market, has its roots in the history of Came and Bpt, companies symbolising all-Italian technological innovation and excellence.
Came was founded at the start of the 1970s as the result of an entrepreneurial idea from its current President, Paolo Menuzzo, who founded CM Costruzioni Meccaniche - which then became Came Cancelli Automatici - one of the first companies in Italy to manufacture gate operators.
In the 1990s, the company supplemented the production of operators for doors and gates for residential and industrial use with the first product lines dedicated to access control in public spaces, a business that would grow in years to come. In 2004, Urbaco, the industry-leading automatic bollard and urban planning solution company, joined the Group.
In 2005, Andrea Menuzzo joined his father at the helm of the company, in the role of CEO, dealing with the development of the internationalisation of the Group through the opening of branches in Europe, America, Asia and through the acquisition of strategic distributors in various foreign markets. In 2011, Bpt, a prestigious company founded in 1953 specialising in automation technologies and the security sector, was acquired to strengthen the Group’s presence in these areas. In 2014, Parkare, a Spanish company specialised in technology for automatic parking facilities and parking meters, also joined the Group. A year later, in 2015, GO was also acquired. This company from the Friuli region is a champion of the “Made in Italy” concept and specialises in the design, manufacture and installation of sectional doors for both the residential and industrial sectors.
