Noé Duchaufour-Lawrance was born into an artistically fertile domestic context in 1974 in Mende, a small town in the south of France. His artist and sculptor father encouraged him to follow his creative bent, and, as a result. he graduated in sculpture and metalwork and later took a degree in Design at the EnsAD in Paris. In 2003, he founded Néonata, a creative studio and research laboratory engaged in architecture, sculpture, interior design, industrial production, art objects and installations. Inspired by nature and crafts, his work is marked by a constant search for essential forms and the desire to create precious and durable items.

He has collaborated with major brands including Saint Louis, Hermès, Baccarat, Cinna, Ceccotti Collezioni, Dior, Bernhardt Design, Zanotta. For La Manufacture, he designed and created Amphora (a small armchair with an integrated cushion), Yakisugi (a small wood table) and Sahara (a modular fabric sofa). His fruitful collaboration with Ligne Roset resulted in the Ottoman sofa with a garden pouf, the walnut Interstice coffee table, the Inside World desk with drawers and the Cupidon series of steel coffee tables with marble base. For Zanotta, he designed the Derby swivel armchair and the Arom and Calla small armchairs. He produced a collection of seats, the Shelter armchairs with four spokes, headrest and footrest for Tacchini. For Ghidini 1961, he created a family of brass and copper vases and bowls.

In the field of interiors, he has designed boutiques, showrooms, lounge areas, restaurants and private residences. The design of the 'Sketch' restaurant in London brought him international renown in 2002, winning several prestigious awards. The project comprises five distinct spaces (two restaurants, two bars and a tea room) designed in collaboration with such prominent figures as Mark Newson and Jurgen Bey. In 2005, he completed the 'Tad concept store' in Milan, an eight hundred square metre space on Via Statuto. In Paris, he designed the 'Deli-Cieux' panoramic restaurant that opened in 2006 on the top floor of the 'Printemps Haussmann' department store. More recently, he was asked to design the new image of the Air France waiting rooms in partnership with Desgrippes Gobé. The first space opened in July 2007 in Tokyo. He also redesigned the layout of Montblanc shops around the world.

In 2007 he was designated Designer of the year "Scènes d'intérieur" at Maison & Objet in Paris. In 2009 he received the "Elle Déco International Design Awards" and the "Wallpaper Design Awards 2009" for the "Buonanotte Valentina" bed produced by Ceccotti Collezioni. In 2011 he received the Red Dot Award Product, and in 2012 GQ honoured him with the Men of the year 2012 "Best Designer" award. He also boasts numerous exhibitions at various museums and cultural institutions. Since 2018, he has lived and worked in Lisbon, where he pursues the Made in Situ project, a platform that enhances Portuguese self-production and crafts.
