Florian Kallus and Sebastian Schneider, born in 1983 and 1985, met in Münster while studying product design at the FH University, Münster School of Design. In 2011, they founded Kaschkasch, a design studio based in Cologne. In just a few years, the office established itself internationally and was recognised in 2013 as the best new entry in the German Design Award competition. The studio works in furniture, lighting design and art direction for various brands, promoting the synthesis of form and function. The creative process accompanying each product takes shape through numerous sketches, renderings, models and ideas involving both designers and their teams.

Every object is characterised by formal essentiality and versatility, minimalist aesthetics and a solid functional component. This approach derives from a profound knowledge of crafts (Kallus and Schneider are both trained cabinet-makers) and the ability to innovate through technological experimentation. This versatility translates into a wide range of products, as demonstrated by collaborations with such brands as Karl Andersson, Calligaris, Blomus, Hay, Living Divani, Müller, Renz, Rolf Benz, Ton, and Zeitraum.

The beds designed for Müller are essential. Nait (2020), a plywood double bed, can be assembled and disassembled quickly. The Flai collection (2015) of double and single beds has a harmonious design, completed by a wardrobe, mirror, sideboard, bench, shoe rack, desk and bedside table. The collaboration with Ton resulted in the POV (2021) collection of organic tables and stools available in beech, oak and walnut. For Blomus, the German design duo produced the Stay garden seating collection consisting of a sofa, dormeuse, pouf and a line of accessories consisting of wall hooks, hangers, fireplace tool sets, shelves, hangers and shelf supports.

The essential style – the hallmark of the Kaschkasch studio - is also found in the collection of household objects designed for Rolf Benz and in the Rail table line produced by Zeitraum. In the lighting field, they created a series of lamps for Hay, from which the Marselis collection (2018) was born, consisting of floor and table lamps characterised by the presence of a rotating and tilting circular disc of light. Kaschkasch's work has been honoured by prestigious awards, notably the Red Dot Award, the Iconic Awards Innovative Interiors, the German Design Award and the Interior Innovation Award. ...
