The Danish architect and designer Verner Panton (1926-1998) was one of the most important and innovative designers in the second half of the 20th century. In the course of his long career, he has created an extensive and varied work, in which his preference for mostly strong colors and his virtuoso play with basic geometric shapes and figures is manifested. The focus of Verner Panton's work was furniture - such as the iconic Cone Chair and the Panton Chair developed with Vitra, which is one of his most famous works. In addition, Verner Panton also designed numerous lights and textiles. The creative high point of his work is the interiors he designed, in which he merged elements from all areas of his work into a kind of Gesamtkunstwerk. In this context, i.a. the Spiegel publishing house in Hamburg (1968), the Visiona exhibitions in Cologne (1968 and 1970) designed for the Bayer Chemistry Concert, and the Varna restaurant near Aarhus (1971). Some of Verner Panton's most famous designs, such as the Panton Chair or the Panthella lamp, have been in production for decades, or have been back in production in recent years.
