Focus, a prestigious choice that enhances your projects and inspires architecture.

Focus, leader in suspended fireplaces since 1968

Each Focus model reflects the avant-garde spirit of Dominique Imbert, artist and founder of the company. The Gyrofocus, which he created in 1968, is the first in a long series of steel fireplaces, suspended and pivoting 360 degrees. Totally disruptive, and since become the brand's icon, the Gyrofocus ranks among the international design legends of the XXᵉ century. Focus perpetuates this exceptional heritage, adapting models to current regulations (Ecodesign wood) and other energies (gas, bioethanol, electric holographik version) without ever touching the design that made their success. Focus offers a permanent catalog of some 20 models with distinctive designs, which it regularly enriches with reissues in new energies. Focus also collaborates with other designers such as Thibault Desombre - creator of the Grappus stove - or Christophe Ployé - current head of design projects - creator of the Bubble brazier. Each fireplace is assembled, welded and sanded by hand, by master boilermakers who shape the steel with gestures as precise as they are rare. Awarded the “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” (Living Heritage Company) label by the French government, Manufacture Focus embodies French excellence in craftsmanship and industrial innovation. Focus, based in the south of France, employs 150 people. The brand is distributed by a network of authorized distributors: the 50th in France and the 100th outside its borders. The company exports two-thirds of its production internationally.

The story of Dominique Imbert, founder of Focus

Dominique Imbert, born with a free spirit and an artistic soul, left his mark on twentieth-century design. His dual training - in classics and sociology - certainly forged his critical eye. He began his career teaching literature for 4 years at a Parisian lycée. The hustle and bustle of the capital and the constraints of the civil service certainly didn't suit his creative drive. Dominique Imbert broke away from this life and retired to the Cévennes, a wild region in the south of France. There, he reinvented himself by sculpting metal. In 1967, a particularly harsh winter led him to forge his first fireplace for heating in his Cévennes home-workshop. The Antéfocus was already disruptive in its raw design and material, steel. A year later, he designed the Gyrofocus, a suspended, rotating fireplace that would become the most emblematic of his prolific creations. This avant-garde piece initially appealed only to purists - architects and aesthetes - before becoming an icon recognized for its timeless aesthetic. Over the years, Dominique Imbert received numerous awards, but the one that was closest to his heart was the title of “Meilleur artisan d'art” in 1975, underlining his exceptional craftsmanship. International acclaim came with two Japanese markets, a country sensitive to his minimalist aesthetic, followed by a prestigious commission from British architect Norman Foster. Dominique Imbert, who never wanted to be called a designer, was first and foremost an artist, a humanist and a businessman who surrounded himself with talent to perpetuate his creations.

Focus, design, innovation and energy choice

Whether wall-mounted or centrally located, suspended from the ceiling or designed for indoor or outdoor use, Focus fireplaces and stoves are a key element in the design and decoration of any space. With their unique aesthetics, Focus creations transform spaces, adding character and elegance to every project. Focus pursues its strategy of energy diversification, with the same guiding principle: never touch the design of the models that have made them so successful.

Ecodesign wood double flow (2015)
The Ecodesign wood models - closed by glass - already meet the highest standards of energy and environmental performance. For these models, Focus has developed a double-flow system that eliminates the need to drill holes in the floor or wall for the air supply. Airtight, the fireplace draws its air directly from the outside, making these fireplaces ideal for homes with low environmental impact: passive or bioclimatic houses, low-energy or positive-energy buildings.

Gas fireplaces, patented technology (2020)
A range of gas-fired models has been developed, with gas supplied through the floor for floor-standing models. Focus takes this innovation a step further, with its suspended fireplaces featuring gas supply through the ceiling. A remote control instantly lights the fireplace, adjusts the intensitý of the flames, and programs it for controlled, constant and comfortable heat.

Holographik, gentle warmth (2022)
With their virtual flames, and the crackling sound of fire, holographic models are playful. Unlike other energy sources, the heating duct provides gentle heat distribution in rooms such as bedrooms. With no external connections, holographic models can be installed absolutely anywhere.

Bioethanol, smokeless (2024)
Focus converts its iconic models to bioethanol. Running on a renewable, smokeless energy source, Focus bioethanol fireplaces don't necessarily need to be connected to an external flue. They can easily be installed on the ground or upper floors of buildings, whether apartments, stores, restaurants, hotels...
