The Kryptonite success story began in 1984 in Milan with the production of aluminium furniture and furnishing accessories. Characterised by an industrial-inspired aesthetic - very avant-garde for the time - the first prototypes were created in a barrel-vaulted warehouse similar to a crypt. This detail suggested the company's name, Kryptonite, which launched its first aluminium clocks and lamps in 1985. Minimalist lines and references to railway station furnishings immediately appealed to Italians who were tired of 1980s excesses. In 2000, Kriptonite produced its first bookcases - customisable modular systems - once again proving the company to be ahead of the times. Despite its success, Kriptonite still handcrafts its prpoducts in the company's Milan headquarters.
Kriponite home and office furniture systems
Kriptonite aluminium home and office furniture systems are timeless classics. The K1 wall-mounted system is a modular bookcase composed of rack uprights supporting elements like shelves, accessories and storage units to create infinite combinations. Over time, the system has expanded to include other fittings, like a clothes rail and sloping shelves, so that it can also be used to furnish walk-in closets. Drawer units and shelves of different depths make the system even more versatile. K1 is available in 5 RAL colours and in oak or Canaletto walnut for the storage units. The K2 pressure system is based on uprights fixed to the ceiling and floor, making it possible to create compositions in the centre of a room. K2 is equipped with shelves and drawer or sideboard storage units and is available in the same finishes as K1. The K3 freestanding shelf unit is made of uprights and shelves with a minimalist and clean design. Available in different widths and heights and in anodised aluminium or painted in RAL matt or glossy white, matt or semi-glossy black, or semi-glossy green, it can be used to create countless combinations. The Krossing wall system is distinguished by its simplicity, versatility and extreme functionality; it can hold books and other objects in just a 15-centimetre depth. The elements in anodised aluminium or painted in RAL matt or glossy white, matt black or semi-glossy are reduced to a minimum. The shelves are available in 6 lengths, from 34 to 200 centimetres and come with holes for the vertical aluminium tubes in 4 different heights. Krossing can be assembled in an infinite number of combinations and is easily fixed to the wall using the holes in the shelf brackets. A storage box in melamine oak with a white or oak door can be mounted on the 32x27 cm modules. The uses of Krossing are practically unlimited, suitable for any residential or public context from the living room to the kitchen, storeroom and bathroom. The Krossing Maxi system is the evolution of Krossing, preserving its simplicity and versatility but adding greater depth and the possibility of floor anchoring to guarantee safety. The Krossing Rotante self-supporting system, made with the same Krossing elements, provides storage for books, magazines and CDs in minimal space.
Industrial-inspired furniture and accessories
Kriptonite's first success came with a wall clock, which everyone called Kriptonite. Today, the Classico clock, with its generous size and simple design, is considered Kriptonite's iconic product. Inspired by railway station timepieces, its minimalist design is tempered by the domed glass and huge numbers with rounded lettering. Kryptonite wall clocks are available with an anodised aluminium case and black hands and numerals or painted in glossy white or matt black with black or white numerals and hands. The sizes range from 15 to 67 centimetres. Minus is a sleek and slim book, CD and DVD shelf with minimal dimensions that can support up to 5 kilograms. Once filled, it becomes practically invisible. Minus is available in two sizes with anodised aluminium finishes or RAL matt white, glossy white, matt black and semi-glossy black. Cantinetta is based on the Krossing system and comes in three different widths. It is ideal for storing three to nine bottles, while the milled shelf can accommodate upside-down goblets. With their simple L-shape and three notches inspired by the air inlets of industrial-style cabinets, the anodised aluminium Fermalibro is the perfect complement to the Kriptonite bookcase systems. Ideal for the office and home, Container drawer units on wheels have a wood frame and aluminium finish. With modules in three heights and two widths, they are available with classic anodised aluminium finishes and 4 RAL black and white colours.
