Martinelli Luce was founded in the 1950s by the inspiration of designer Elio Martinelli, who decided to create a brand that would become a reference point in the lighting industry. The company distinguishes itself from the beginning for its catalog of lighting fixtures for interiors, intended mainly for commercial shops and public places. The company then expands its offer, alongside the lamps for interiors, also lighting systems for exteriors. From now on, Martinelli Luce productions stand out for the essentiality of their lines, characterized by a sober style, but at the same time out of the classical patterns. The design of Martinelli Luce is elegant and draws maximum inspiration from the world of nature, with particular attention to the suggestions of the animal kingdom. The collaboration with leading designers helped to project Martinelli Luce into the Olympus of the world’s leading companies in the field. In addition to commercial success, Martinelli Luce can boast numerous awards and awards in the field of international design.

Geometry and nature: Martinelli Luce lighting design

Martinelli Luce, for three generations, has been carrying on a project of constant innovation in design applied to the world of lighting. The articles of the brand, representative of Made in Italy in the world, are recognizable thanks to a personal and unique style inspired by the naturalistic world. In particular, it is the animal world that provides the most significant creative cues for the designers who have collaborated with Martinelli Luce over the years; among the most indicative creations in the collection are Pipistrello, Cobra, Serpente, Bruco, Calabrone and Le Rondini, perfect examples of how Martinelli Luce's creativity takes the form of design objects with an out-of-line taste and in which the naturalistic element plays a leading role in guiding the designers' choices. The subjects of the natural world are also declined in geometric shapes, giving life to projects with a strong experimental connotation, such as Colibrì, Nuvole Vagabonde, Bolla and Fluida, objects all designed to maximize the light in the environments, while giving decorum and charm to the space that welcomes them.

Indoor and outdoor lamps: the Martinelli Luce collections

The brand develops 360-degree solutions for indoor and outdoor lighting, giving life to solutions capable of giving grace to any context, without sacrificing functionality. In the Martinelli Luce catalogue it is possible to choose from a very wide range of suspension lamps with more imaginative or more sober lines, wall, ceiling, table and floor lamps. The range of indoor and outdoor spotlights is also rich and varied. Martinelli Luce has been able to broaden its creative horizons, even creating solutions outside the lighting sector: proof of this is the Metafora coffee table and the original Clochard design object, halfway between a coffee table, a lamp and an empty pocket. The solutions developed by the brand, now managed by Emiliana Martinelli, include a series of lamps and complements to embellish the offices through attractive and bold lines, perfect to convey modernity and character: not only office lighting, but also partitions and acoustic panels, such as the Hush series in fabric with integrated lighting that, in addition to giving personality to the rooms, contribute to improve the livability of the rooms. For the contract market, the brand develops solutions for restaurants and bars that aim to define an elegant and innovative image of the environment.

Martinelli Luce's designers and awards: a winning story

In addition to founder Elio Martinelli, many established designers have collaborated with the brand. Above all, the designer and architect Gae Aulenti, who designed the Pipistrello and Ruspa collections. In addition to the Friulian artist, a special mention should be reserved to personalities such as Sergio Asti, Studio Orlandini, Marc Sadler, Luc Ramael, Studio Lucchi & Biserni, Angelo Micheli, Michel Bouquillon, Karim Rashid, each of whom has left a significant mark over the years of Martinelli Luce's history. The brand also has a substantial number of awards and recognitions to its credit, making it one of the reference points for luminaire design worldwide.
