14/05/2019 - Day and night systems, sofas, armchairs, beds and accessories. The new Former / Busnelli collection offers a complete furnishing proposal rich in important innovations, from the living to the night area. To present the novelties, the two brands chose the Salone del Mobile with a completely unstructured envelope, a playful architecture where intersecting elements overlap, in a game of volumes, colors and finishes.

Art Director, Andrea Steidl explains: ‘if at last year’s Salone we drew inspiration from De Chirico’s Italian Piazze, this year we reinterpreted the Modernist Home. Geometries, overlaps, and warm colors are the fil rouge of the installation that welcomes the new Former systems and Busnelli upholstered furniture’.

Aside from coordinating the brand’s collections, Andrea Steidl also designed Wallaby, one of the main new entries of the Busnelli range. ‘For me comfort is synonymous with intimacy. This is why we created a sofa that can easily be arranged for smaller or wider spaces’, the designer tells us. ‘We thought carefully about the proportions of the cushions and the density of the materials, adding a sartorial detail that is also functional. The pocket along the armrest in fact creates a seam that marks out the external lines of the entire sofa’.

Wallaby is a sofa system in which attention to detail is the dominant theme; a pattern of sartorial seams surrounds the seating system, gracing it with an elegant three-quarter convexity, which turns into a functional pocket for storing objects.

The pocket is born from a sophisticated coating system fixed to a supporting structure that controls its shape. The covering is embroidered with a vertical seam that graphically marks the modularity. The search for technologies and the introduction of new materials has led Busnelli to a new level of comfort and hospitality. Wallaby varies in aesthetics based on the choice of components, linear and pure, or more eclectic with compositions interspersed with terminal elements and ottomans.
