“The collection’s generous curved form, seen usually in metal furniture, presents a technical challenge when made in wood. Responding to such challenge requires significant mastery of craft to ensure that the product meets strength and durability requirements,” says Gufler in his introduction to the collection. In the Again design, the designer has paired TON’s trademark bent wooden rods with a visually light seat made from gently curved plywood, all with no visible joins.
Gufler paid attention to functionality in the chair design: “When creating the chair, I focussed on making it stackable. The Again chair can be stacked vertically, using up little space even in large numbers,” describes Gufler the chair’s functional elements. Upholstery options offer additional variability. The chair can be made with a smooth finish, with an upholstered seat, or an upholstered seat and backrest. The barstool is also available in two height variations.
TON welcomes the new season with new upholstery materials. Thanks to its longstanding collaboration with ROHI, a company creating premium wool fabrics, this year TON introduces three shades of the new upholstery fabric Milkyway.
The woollen fabric portrays a shimmering Milky Way that repeats every three metres. The result is an upholstery pattern that varies slightly from chair to chair and features most effectively when used on a larger chair grouping. The Again collection can be ordered from your local TON retailers.
