28/09/2020 - From childhood,
Sofie Refer was fascinated by the gorgeous wild umbellifers that grew in the grounds of her grandparents' cottage in Rørvig. This fascination with umbellifers and the incredible intelligence that exists in nature is deeply rooted in Sofie. Through the
Apiales collection designed for
Nuura, she has interpreted precisely that; motivated by a desire for her elegant chandeliers to spread positive energy and atmosphere to their surroundings.
'Light affects me in a positive way. It boosts energy and creates an atmosphere in a room. For me, the chandelier is the ideal form of lighting, and through the Apiales collection, I want to spread comfortable and atmospheric lighting,' says Sofie Refer.
Two new mouth-blown glass colours are now being launched. Apiales 9 and 18 in Brushed Brass finish are available with transparent, gold-coloured glass, while the Satin Black variants are available with transparent metallic smoked glass. The transparent glass gives a light appearance and creates beautiful light reflections, while the repetitions of colours in metal and glass bring a calm, harmonious appearance.
The chandeliers are carefully produced without visible screws or welds and, from a specially-produced canopy, the arms unfold like flower stalks and are completed by the mouth-blown glass, from which light is spread with grace and sensuality.
The Apiales collection is a reinterpretation of the classic chandelier that, with its layers and natural shape, brings Nordic nature into the home. Apiales is designed so that it can both hang high or low from the ceiling, and thereby offers many applications. The smaller chandelier, Apiales 9, at 60 cm in diameter, fits over the dining table, in the bedroom, or the hall, while the larger chandelier, Apiales 18, at 90 cm in diameter, will look great as the centrepiece in the foyer, a large living room or over a large dining table.
