11/03/2020 - This year’s LEDucation will take place in New York at Hotel Hilton Midtown and Axolight will be amongst the exhibitors (Booth GB 307).

There will be many new ideas to see at their booth, which was created in collaboration with the SLS Agency from New York, starting with two iconic and exciting suspension lamps: Manto, designed by Davide Besozzi, and Liaison, designed by Sara Moroni. Two floor lamps will also be on show, Kwic and Cut, and the new tabletop version of Orchid - the floral inspired lamp designed by Rainer Mutsch

Able to change shape and vary the lighting effect in the space around it, Manto is a game of balancing simple geometric forms – a sphere, cylinder and circle – in a coordinated dance: when one moves, the others must change position too. Liaison can pride itself on its creative liberty as well. It can be hung on its own or in compositions of 2, 4 and 8 elements, reproducible in two heights, while the color can be personalized with black and matt gold shades.

Both lamps have dimmable LED lights offering the double advantage of being energy efficient – with a considerable saving in consumption – as well as not blinding guests, allowing these lamps to be installed in any space and at any height.

Using mercury as a starting point (Kwic means mercury in Flemish), the Dutch designers Serge & Robert Cornelissen designed a family of lamps that recreate the feeling of liquid metal on a surface thanks to a semi-spherical diffuser in blown glass holding the LED light source which rests on a disk of aluminum.

Cut, on the other hand, is the result of design and technical research by the Finn Timo Ripatti with the aim of creating an all-encompassing, soft light that doesn’t blind its observer. Its unique structure in laser cut aluminum can be moved into three positions and is composed of three circles that connect the LED light source on one side and the semitransparent glass shade fixed to the circular metallic support on the other. These are two lighting solutions that go beyond conventional style, and with their unusual shapes they bring a breath of fresh air to the lighting design sector.

Orchid is ideal for reading a book or furnishing an office. Behind an apparent simplicity, the hi-tech soul of the lamp emerges in attention to detail, revealing a design approach attentive to shapes, materials and technology, able to combine innovation, efficiency and sustainability. The result is a multidirectional illuminating solution that emits direct and soft light beams, thanks to the funnel-shaped diffusers made of aluminum and equipped with dimmable LED light technology which prevents overheating, thus ensuring maximum duration of the light source.
