12/06/2024 - As part of the
3daysofdesign in Copenhagen, Czech lighting manufacturer
BOMMA is participating in the
Design/Dialogue art exhibition, which brings together more than 20 global brands, designers and artists.
The centrepiece of the exhibition is a composition of the large
Bouy luminaires, which, like their name, float in space. Designed by
Václav Mlynář,
BOMMA's Creative Director, and inspired by the directional buoys that guide seafarers, the fixtures come in two shapes, the nearly 1-meter double-cone and the 50-centimeter globe - in clear, smoked or white glass.
A custom-designed, sandblasted polycarbonate light rod containing numerous LED chips runs vertically through the glass body, giving the fixtures their signature touch.
"The Buoy Collection seeks a balance between a classic light fixture and a light object, hovering at the edge of sculpture and product design," Václav explains. Due to their size, three people must work together to produce these unique and carefully crafted hand-blown elements.
The Design/Dialogue exhibition is promoted by Ark Journal, from 12 to 14 June at Parkhus 11, Dampfaergevej 2, Copenhagen.
