The new venue is a forward-looking development for the show, produced by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce. The new partnership with the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation (BNYDC) is particularly apt given its soul as a mission-driven non-profit home to myriad manufacturing and creative businesses. BNYDC will bring value by activating design talent within the Yard.

I couldn’t think of a better host for Brooklyn Designs than the Navy Yard’, said new Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Hector Batista. ‘It’s the perfect partnership between two organizations that share a mission to support local artisans and entrepreneurs, further economic growth in Brooklyn, and develop programming that resonates with the community’. The show will be housed on the 15th floor of the Yard’s recently-opened Building 77 along Flushing Avenue.  The building will serve as a central hub for exhibitors and attendees featuring sweeping, waterfront views and access to a range of food vendors and services from BNYDC’s forthcoming Food Manufacturing Hub on the ground floor.

The Navy Yard is excited to host Brooklyn Designs to give a platform to the many talented artists, designers, fabricators and manufacturers that call the Yard home’, said David Ehrenberg, President and CEO of the Brooklyn Navy Yard Development Corporation. We love to showcase the ecosystem of cutting-edge businesses working, growing and thriving here and we think Brooklyn Designs is a perfect opportunity to celebrate not only them, but all Brooklyn has to offer’. The Yard, which has long been a center of innovation, was established in 1801 as one of the first federal shipyards created to serve the newly-formed U.S. Navy. Today it is among the country’s leading urban manufacturing centers and a vibrant community of more than 400 companies employing over 9,000 New Yorkers in a wide range of sectors including furniture, fashion, and food production.  The Yard also continues to serve as a home to many local artists.  Brooklyn Designs
