02/04/2019 - Calligaris
arrives at the appointment with the 2019 Salone del Mobile
with a new creative project and a new story to tell. Actually four new stories that have four different furnishing styles as a theme inspired by the products that are part of the new collection. In a completely renewed stand, Calligaris takes visitors on a short trip through four domestic sceneries, each one inspired by a different and personal way of “feeling at home”.
Versatility is no doubt the leitmotiv of the new collection, which includes products that lend themselves to describe the different contemporary styles in a new way, thanks to creative designers who are able to look forward and to Calligaris’ experience interpreting the furniture trends for over 95 years. The 2019 collection includes chairs, sofas and upholstered armchairs, tables and coffee tables, occasional furniture and a wide range of rugs. On top of this, there is a collection of throws to give a touch of color to sofas and armchairs and make relaxing moments even warmer and more pleasant.
Upholstered furniture. Sofas and armchairs
The 2019 sofa collection offers endless creative possibilities thanks to the many collections – all designed by Stefano Spessotto – and to the models versatility, which range from the more traditional and rigorous to the fresher and more informal styles. All models are offered in a multiple seats fixed version and in a modular version with a wide range of elements, including chaise-longue, ottoman and open-end, to offer a customized character and comfort to every home style.
LE MARAIS is a family of essential, elegant and very comfortable sofas, thanks to the soft seat and backrest cushions. The metal tubular base makes it lighter and delicately informal, perfect for any décor context.
In the FINLAND collection Nordic minimalism and Mediterranean traditional character blend in a sofa featuring soft lines and a slightly retro allure able to give a vintage touch to the living room. The large seat cushions and the small throw pillows, give the sofa great comfort and an informal, fresh and balanced look.
PUFFY is the new lounge chair designed by Busetti Garuti Redaelli. As the name suggests, it features rounded lines, abundant shapes and soft paddings that make you want to relax. Supported by a minimal frame made with a metal tube, PUFFY is versatile and perfect to give a poetic touch to every corner of the house, from the living room to the bedroom.
The QUADROTTA armchair was designed by Archirivolto with its eclectic and unconventional creativity that, by contaminating the minimal design with the 1950s charm, decided to match an essential metal frame with a tall and extremely comfortable seat and a soft and embracing padded backrest, which is also available with a two-tone upholstery.
Its name is VELA because it is as light as fabric, the family of ergonomic, comfortable, colorful and functional chairs designed by E-ggs Studio.
But, most of all, they are eco-friendly chairs thanks to the polypropylene seat shells made with 40% of the material recycled at source or with bio-plastic, 80% of which, is obtained from renewable raw materials (i.e. sugar cane and corn). It is available with a FSC certified ash wood legs version and in two varnished metal legs versions in 8 colors matching the seat shell.
Tables and coffee tables
The new MONOGRAM extendable table, designed by Archirivolto, takes inspiration from the Japanese ideogram that represents bamboo.
The essential base – made with a matt black or bronze finished varnished metal tube – supports a ceramic-glass top available in 10 different finishes. The two independent extensions are perfectly integrated in the frame design increasing the length of the table by one meter and, for this reason, MONOGRAM is ideal for a large dining room.
The spectacular BAM coffee table collection, designed by Archirivolto, features geometries cut in a macro inlay and the unexpected combination of ceramic, mirror and wood, which transform the traditional coffee table into a particularly charming object. BAM is available in three sizes – two with a round and one with an oval top – and different material combinations.
The rug is independent from the other home décor and it is easy to position in the different rooms, but, at the same time, it is a key element to define and personalize the style of each room of the house and of the office. In 2019 Calligaris offers a collection designed by prominent and young creative designers who, contributed, with their energy, imagining the styles that will come. The refined rugs of the new collection feature subtle colors and special graphic effects that enhance the threedimensionality of the weaving and turn the rug into a powerful and comfortable creative element.
LUSO, designed by Sam Baron, resembles a patchwork and features an original graphic effect that plays with matching small geometric patterns in two contrasting colors like petrol blue and mustard yellow on a beige base.
LINEE, designed by Valerio Sommella following its graphic and minimal taste, is a rug which design comes from the repetition of a simple linear element to reproduce a Middle-Eastern decoration in the shades of pink and burgundy.
On the OFFSET rug, designed by BrogliatoTraverso, hexagonal geometries overlap and cross creating an elegant and decorative depth perception that can be endlessly replicated when more than one rug is placed next to the other creating a continuous pattern. Michele Menescardi designed CEMENTINO, which pattern is a homage to the floorings made with the iconic cement tiles typical of the public housing from the end of the 1800s. The pattern creates a design defined by light and dark allowing cutting out a special frame within every home. JUT rug graphic, designed by Matteo Meraldi, takes inspiration from the architectural world. The sculptural volumes cross one another creating contrasts of full and empty with a delicate balance of strong geometries and soft and warm shades.
CHINESE’s decoration takes inspiration from a trip that the designer Alessio Romano took to China. He replicates on the rug the circle, symbol of perfection and of perpetual and everlasting time. HOLE, designed by Archirivolto, is a digitally printed rug where the simple full circle motif in the shades of pink and bright red-orange, give it a magical, textured and iridescent look. Drawn with a light stroke COLLAGE, designed by E-gg studio, features a pattern with various quartering in different dimensions that overlap one another giving the monochromatic rug a graphic and a little bit pop allure.
Calligaris Studio took inspiration from the historic Venetian terrazzo flooring and recalled its texture for its TERRAZZO rug, where the beige base is enriched with a mix of “tiles” in different dimensions and colors, which create the same surprising color chaos of the flooring.
MINIMUM is an umbrella stand designed by Busetti Garuti Redaelli featuring essential and sophisticated lines with a double function to hang pocket-umbrellas and hold standard ones.
Archirivolto designed the new ironic and colorful SKYLINE wall coat hanger made with 4 shaped metal plate elements in different colors (two of them feature a bottom hole to hang umbrellas) placed one next to the other in an irregular way like a creative skyscraper skyline.
With its simplicity and its fresh and light look, the BROOKLYN bookcase is perfect in any room where you wish to display books and objects in an informal and creative way.
Calligaris throws, made with 100% cotton yarns, were introduced in order to offer quality products to customize the room always in a different way. They feature charming, tridimensional, knitted textures available with three different motifs and a variety of contemporary colors – white and black, blue and mustard yellow, purple and grey – making the sofa or armchair even warmer and more personal.
