25/06/2021 - Samsung, has chosen De Castelli metal finish for its line of luxury home appliances: a special version of the Chef Collection refrigerator is made with the DeMarea finish, an exclusive reinterpretation for the South Korean market. Overlapping manual oxidations applied on stainless steel create watercolors stratified effects that remind us of the waves that string on the shore.
The project is called MARE BLUE: the name sounds deliberately Italian to underline the importance of collaborating with a brand that represents “Made In Italy” quality. In fact, Samsung wanted to strongly communicate the project – so much so that the De Castelli logo is engraved on the front door – considering Italian character and craftsmanship as essential assets for the positioning of its image in the Northeast Asia, which has always been fascinated by these themes, also in terms of sales.
Continuous research and experimentation on metals which leads to the development of unique finishes and inimitable colour effects; manufacturing expertise, which means the ability to develop handcrafted techniques through technological innovation; production power, which guarantees control of all the phases and processes, even on a large scale, to maintain the quality standards required by such a global company.
These are the values that Samsung has recognised in De Castelli and, after a worldwide scouting activity, it selected the Italian company as a partner to add even more value and artistry to one of the home appliances in its exclusive high-end collection.
For De Castelli, the experience has turned into an opportunity to test itself in a sector completely different from the partnerships it has already established with other brands, an opportunity to further improve the management of processes, to increase the level of control in all the phases and to test new treatments, by finding solutions that also work for such specific and technological products.
