District Eight, a Vietnamese furniture and lifestyle brand founded in 2010 by Darren Chew, draws on the Asian industrial and craft manufacturing tradition, contaminating it with European influences. The result is reflected in a collection with pure, minimalist lines, created in natural materials, such as solid wood, and sustainable materials, such as metal, leather and stone. At the Salone del Mobile, it debuts its latest collections Inumbra, Stilt, Joss and Collette.
Modular shelving system, designed by Michele De Lucchi
Pure lines that combine historical references, ancient manufacturing techniques and formal experimentation: Michele De Lucchi signs Inumbra, a District Eight furnishing element that reinterprets the classic modular shelving system in a sculptural and imposing way, enhancing the materials and craftsmanship quality of the workmanship.
“In District Eight, I recognize a design attitude that’s very Italian in its approach to high quality products – the result of a perpetual curiosity towards technical possibilities, a deeply rooted humanistic sensibility and a strong innovative undertone,” says Michele De Lucchi.

The Stilt collection, designed by Vietnamese-born French designer Toan Nguyen, is the result of a perfect combination of art, Vietnamese manufacturing tradition and European formal contaminations.

A tribute to archetypal woodwork, Collette is the collection designed by Australian designer Adam Goodrum that evokes the softness of a refined French collar. With flowing, sinuous lines that extend harmoniously from the backrest to the armrests and up to the seat, the Collette collection retains the robustness of wood, lending itself well to residential and commercial spaces.
