With the museum designed by David Chipperfield, a multi-purpose building was opened in 2018. As an urban balcony, it opens up imposing views towards the Lustgarten and the new city palace and serves as an entrance. Through the gallery you reach the Pergamonmuseum, in the future it will also serve as access to the 'Archaeological Promenade', which will then connect all the museums - except the Old National Gallery - underground.
Authentic materials, wide visual axes
The interior of the building, which extends over three floors, impresses with noble materials such as patinated bronze, Thassos marble slabs and French walnut wood against the backdrop of simple exposed concrete walls. The glass facades are held by glass swords, in the auditorium floats an elegant walnut ceiling over the visitors. Large spaces create a spacious room experience. The entrance hall of the building was fitted with emco Marschall and emco Plaza entrance mats framed in medium bronze anodised aluminium sections. As a result bright shell limestone floor is not only protected to the maximum extent against dirt and wear, but also the frames and the mat in conjunction with the light grey ribbed inserts give rise to a visual appeal that gives maximum effect in the surrounding architecture.

Color, form and function in harmony
The building is reached at various levels and one enters the gallery via abrasion-resistant entrance mats of the types emco Marschall, of which approx. 75 m² with substructure, and emco Plaza, framed by color-coordinated anodised aluminium sections. They easily withstand extreme loads, which predestines them for heavily frequented buildings such as the prestigious building in the heart of Berlin. Entrance mats by emco have been installed not only in the entrance areas, but also inside the building, which contribute to a clean and welcoming ambience. The dimensionally stable, TÜV-tested inserts are available for three profile heights, two profile widths and can optionally be combined with additional profiles.
In addition to cleanliness, emco products also contribute to sustainability: Their installation reduces the consumption of cleaning supplies as less dirt is carried into the building. The light grey ribbed inserts with anodised aluminium sections emphasise the elegant appearance of the architectural design and fit in perfectly with the urban environment. In order to keep it that way in the long term, individual ribstrips can be easily exchanged if necessary.
