04/08/2021 - During the 2021 Design Week, September edition, Elmar presents the Libera kitchen at the Milan headquarters of Archiproducts in via Tortona 31.
Designed by architects Marco Merendi & Diego Vencato, LIBERA is a kitchen that comes from a careful reflection on contemporary living: created to be inserted in open spaces, it is able to communicate with any room in the house and is a product so versatile that it can be inserted both outdoors and indoors.
Compact, elegant and functional, LIBERA uses colored cement for the first time: the different shades allow a harmonious insertion in diverse areas, from the country garden, to the industrial loft or to the terrace in the city. The transversal nature of the project allows you to live an experience of quality and sharing, which have always been intrinsic values of the Elmar brand.
'When we talked to Elmar about the idea of making an outdoor concrete kitchen, we had the clear objective of creating an object with an independent language, therefore far from those products - already on the market - in which concrete had simply been replaced with other materials.
We wanted a kitchen that would relate to people as an open architecture, made of transparency and in harmony with the surrounding environment: therefore, it is not a full volume, but a filter that allows light and colors to pass through. The relationship with the external architectural spaces and in particular with greenery was of fundamental importance to enjoy the sweetness of the convivial pleasures and the life in the open air. We had plans, a light, the possibility of integrating plants' Marco Merendi & Diego Vencato
The modernist architecture of the mid-twentieth century was the natural reference from which we began: load-bearing structures in metal and infill in prefabricated concrete. These are the two basic components that make up the kitchen. A product is born in which the function of each element is easily recognizable and where the aesthetic result is in harmony with the material used. The resulting overall image is one of strength and elegance. Following this philosophy, the construction system, transportation and assembly are also simplified.
'Libera' is a kitchen conceived as an architecture in steel and concrete, suitable for outdoor use, in which atten-tion given to the care for detail, with its own delicacy, and which give it qualities are visible household.
Environmental sustainability is another important aspect of this project. In fact, the cement chosen is a new high-performance and completely eco-sustainable material: Cementoskin® provides a water-based and emission-free production cycle. It is a material with subtle and refined qualities, characterized by a surface finish that offers a tactile sensation similar to velvet. The color then, in its multiple shades, joins the cement in an organic and gentle relationship.
