Eugeni Quitllet and Vondom: Nature Meets Artifice

09/05/2019 - Simple shapes and natural and recyclable materials define Ibiza, the seat that Eugeni Quitllet designs for Vondom. Founded in 2017 in its first version with and without armrests, this year the collection is presented at the Salone del Mobile in the lounge chair and day-bed version.

Ibiza brings together in a single collection the energy that characterizes outdoor life. 'I grew up on beautiful terraces in sunny Ibiza, surrounded by traditional sugar cane chairs,' says Eugeni Quitllet. 'At the end of the season the sessions showed signs of wear due to exposure to the sun or the sea. From the ephemeral beauty of a season to an everlasting piece to keep this moment of a dream in a permanent frame, to share it with the magic island'

The seat is composed of a single block of 100% recyclable polyethylene, but the drive to search for new materials is continuous. The new version is in fact covered with a special rope made from seaweed that reinforces the designer's desire to bring together nature and artifice.
