Handmade Items, Created Slowly and Piece by Piece
27/12/2018 - For the theme of the edition of IMM Cologne 2019 “new interior worlds”, a selection of pieces by GAN exemplify the variety and complexity of its manufacturing techniques. MIRAGE by Patricia Urquiola and CANEVAS GEO by Charlotte Lancelot are representative of the complexity with which GAN approaches its creative process. Handmade items, created slowly and piece by piece. MIRAGE

MIRAGE

MIRAGE, Patricia Urquiola’s latest creation, combines color, geometry and overlay in a New Zealand wool rug knotted entirely by hand that nevertheless brings to mind three-dimensionality and digital design. In Mirage, colors are fluid, creating a sense of movement with no beginning or end, an extremely complex thing to achieve.
CANEVAS GEO

CANEVAS GEO

CANEVAS GEO, by Charlotte Lancelot, employs cross-stitching to explore color patterns and the different effects they produce when superimposed, using colored threads on a perforated felt base. The colors intermingle on the surfaces of CANEVAS GEO, creating layers with different levels of opacity.
