21/01/2025 - Artificial intelligence is no longer confined to algorithms and digital interfaces—it is now shaping everyday objects. The
TWISTY MINI armchair, designed by
Roderick Vos for
HC28, was born from the synergy of AI-generated concepts and human creativity. The sculptural design heralds a new era in which advanced technologies merge with design expression, making a bold statement about the future and pushing the boundaries of what furnishings can be. With its playful, functional form and global recognition,
TWISTY MINI challenges us to think about the possibilities of AI-driven creativity in daily life.
TWISTY MINI transforms an abstract concept into a concrete object whose thick tubular loops twist into a continuous, interconnected form, functioning as the chair’s seat, backrest, and armrests. This concept intentionally symbolizes infinity and limitless potential, echoing the boundless data and forward-looking possibilities represented by artificial intelligence.
The inviting, soft seat with no hard edges is characterized by interlocking loops, recalling knots, or braids; its monochromatic upholstery emphasizes its intricate shape without visual distraction. Its chunky, rounded form, intended for both adults and children, is inherently stable while maintaining its digital vibe.
For
Vos and
HC28, the chair reflects the dialogue between “Man versus Machine,” where Artificial Intelligence meets Artistic Intelligence to create something that transcends both disciplines.
The TWISTY MINI has been recognized as a significant achievement in contemporary design. In 2024, it received the Archiproducts Design Award for Product Design and the German Design Award 2025 for Excellent Product Design – Winner - accolades that underscore its experimental significance and innovative execution.
