Truly Truly, Sebastian Herkner and Luca Nichetto give life to the collective project Das Apartment HAUS, a get together dedicated to the living of the future

24/11/2021 - Imm cologne celebrates ten years of 'Das Haus' with 'Das Apartment HAUS', a new collective project designed by the Truly Truly studio and by the designers Sebastian Herkner and Luca Nichetto.
 
Launched on the occasion of imm cologne 2012, the Das Haus - Interiors on Stage format is a design laboratory where the designer stages his idea of a home in a 180 m² space in the center of the “Pure Village”. Doshi Levien, Luca Nichetto, Louise Campbell, Neri & Hu, Sebastian Herkner, Todd Bracher, Lucie Koldova, Truly Truly and MUT Design are the studies that have anticipated interior design trends with a personal interpretation of the future of living, reflecting different nuances social and cultural changes: in their projects the designers have in fact touched upon issues such as climate change and scarcity of resources, expressing their point of view.
 
For the anniversary year, three designers, three stories, three urban living ideas perspectives were planned for 'Das Apartment HAUS'. For this, the imm cologne was able to win Luca Nichetto, Sebastian Herkner and Studio Truly Truly to create innovative interior design solutions for contemporary living in apartments and co-living areas in a unique get-together.

'It was supposed to be a celebration for all design fans and the preliminary culmination of one of the most prestigious design events in the interior design industry. However, after we had to cancel imm cologne and with it 'Das Apartment HAUS' due to the pandemic in 2021, we are starting the re-launch of imm cologne in January 2022 in a more compact form. In the course of positioning the event, we have also decided on a new visualization for 'Das Apartment HAUS' - in line with the event,' says Claire Steinbrück, Director of imm cologne. 
 
'Even though we are redesigning the project with a different visualization, we want to continue telling the story and thus the fascination that is 'Das Haus',' adds Dick Spierenburg, Creative Director of imm cologne. 'Visions of 'Das Apartment HAUS' is a tribute to 'Das Haus'. It sticks to the basic idea of showing design solutions for contemporary living in apartments and co-living areas. It's an exciting and important theme that we're determined to push forward,' the creative director continued.

So what's new? Visitors will experience three sophisticated living visions, three very unique and personal perspectives and interpretations, in three open-plan areas. The creative teams bring very different levels of style to the project. But what they all have in common is that they will use their spaces to present new developments with brands such as Thonet, Wittmann, Leolux, Rakumba, Schönbuch, Gandia Blasco, Ethimo, Wendelbo, Lodes, Arflex, La Manufacture, Freifrau, Classicon, CoEdition and many others.
 
Even though 'Visions of 'Das Apartment HAUS' is not the same as the originally planned 'Das Haus', the new design approach also offers enough scope to present the ideas and visions of the designers. 
 
Thus, the Australian Kate Booy, who runs the studio Truly Truly together with her husband Joel Booy, will continue to work on the continuation of their spatial research through the stimulation of the senses, even under the new framework. The basic idea here is, instead of a typical home layout, the design couple envisions the space as a canvas arranged with a stimulating composition of elements.

In contrast, Luca Nichetto's ideas focus on values such as passion, craftsmanship, the importance of savoir faire and a community - consisting of designers and companies. From his point of view, investing in a design product means investing in the community described, which is always behind this product.

In the case of Sebastian Herkner, a designer from Offenbach, the focus will be on the design of co-living and co-working spaces. He is concerned with the question of transitions between concentration and communication spaces, which he wants to design in such a way that there is room for different needs: space to retreat, to work together, but also to meet people and let a feeling of neighborliness develop.

The story of Das Haus is thus continued in its tenth edition, creating three stages and thus three meeting places that - true to the imm cologne 2022's motto 'Time for Exchange' - encourage discussion, reflection and personal dialogue.
