The DEW PENDANT, which was shown for the first time at Euroluce in Milan in April will be making its debut stateside at the ICFF. 'Dew has been so well received, we are really excited about what it brings to the lighting collection', says Karen Gilbert, designer and brand co-foudner. 'It brings a formal language to our lighting collection which is completely new, yet it reinforces what SkLO is about by stressing the minimal, the modern and the decorative in one unique design.' The DEW PENDANT features a solid, sculpted glass form composed of layers of glass applied while hot, giving it a distinct “dripping” appearance. Available in both clear or sandblasted finish, the glass diffuser is topped by a minimal brass cylinder and suspended on a brass stem.

In addition to the DEW PENDANT, SkLO will also be presenting the DRAPE ARM 1 SCONCE, the TWIN SCONCE, and the BALANCE PENDANT. 'So much of the world of decorative lighting is becoming repetitive', says Karen Gilbert. 'My background as an artist, metalsmith and jeweler, and Paul’s background as an architect is immediately apparent in the designs of SkLO. The exploration of LED technology has led so many designs to converge in a look that is very hard-edged and architectural. With SkLO, we are doing something completely different. We are dedicated to this idea of Craft, and to the value of making things by hand. We are producing work that is softer, more feminine, with a real interest in the beautiful'.

'We talk about Beauty a lot', says Paul Pavlak, Gilbert’s husband and co-designer. 'Beauty is important to us, and it is a constant consideration. When talking about design concepts and prototypes, we ask ourselves: Perhaps it is clever, perhaps it is cool, perhaps it is interesting, yes, but - is it ultimately beautiful to live with?'

SkLO will be exhibiting at the ICFF, the premier exhibition of design in the United States, at the Jakob K Javits Center in New York City, Booth 957, May 19-22.
