Jewel Table: A new table from dk3

18/09/2013 -The brand new Jewel Table is a new addition to the family of beautiful and timeless dining tables from the Danish design company dk3. The new table from dk3's 'The Solid Wood Collection' is, as the name says, a true jewel, and the combination of solid wood and black steel, brass or stainless steel in a cubic form is incredibly beautiful. The table is designed by the Danish architect Søren Juul (2013).

The Jewel Table base is a simple elegant base in black painted angle iron, satin polished untreated angle-brass or stainless angle-steel. The table is either round or square - always with the possibility of extension leaves. The solid wood tabletop is hand polished and processed at our carpentries in Denmark by the industry's most capable hands. The final product is a beautiful combination of natural elements in classic Danish design tradition. Everything is made in Denmark.

The designer behind the Jewel Table, Søren Juul (1943-2013), has had a lifelong experience within both design and architecture. He was trained as a cabinetmaker, then studied as a furniture designer at the Design School in Copenhagen and the architect school in Aarhus, where he subsequently was employed by architects Friis & Moltke for more than 40 years. Here he dealt primarily with furniture, lamps and fixtures for schools, colleges, hotels, offices, etc. The design, according to Søren Juul, should be simple, functional and honest and the quality should be no less than perfect. Unfortunately Søren Juul never got to experience his last work being put into production.
