Martino Gamper Transforms Kerakoll Colours and Textures into Three-Dimensional Objects

23/06/2022 - Plinthos by Martino Gamper pays homage to the colours, textures and shapes made possible by the Kerakoll resins and paint collection. An installation by Trentino designer Martino Gamper on stage in the storefronts of the Kerakoll showroom in via Solferino 16 during Fuorisalone in Milan.

With Plinthos, Gamper introduces three-dimensionality to the world of Kerakoll. In the designer's vision, plinths become imaginary cityscapes with different heights and finishes, revealing plays of form and colour. Unusual and creative juxtapositions, a glimpse into the infinite interior decorative possibilities of Kerakoll's Color Collection and Fugabella Color paint and resin collections. “Kerakoll’s showroom in via Solferino has four arched windows. In each window I created groups of plinths that take their cue from and describe the different materials and textures of Kerakoll products, combined in unusual ways,” says Martino Gamper. “I worked on the relationship between the outside street and what was already available here, in the showroom itself, and created architectural miniatures echoing the patina of Milan’s great urban history. The plinth is usually understood as a mechanism to construct buildings, rather than a support to elevate pieces of art or sculptures, whereas in this case it becomes the main object of the installation.”

In designing the installation, Martino Gamper selected tones and surfaces from the Color Collection’s 150 colours; he then created a special structure to narrate Fugabella Color’s world of coloured joints. Available in 50 shades, Fugabella Color is a resin-cement product used to creatively grout ceramic tiles, mosaics and marble. Plinthos by Martino Gamper, Showroom Kerakoll Brera Studio, Ph. Kerakoll’s Color Collection and Fugabella Color meet any interior design requirements. The coupling of these two products – both focusing on colour – provides access to an unlimited palette of combinations: on the one hand, a complete system of eco-friendly decorative paints and resins in 150 shades; on the other a unique project featuring 50 contemporary colours intertwining with the resin-cement in order to transform joints into decorative surfaces.

From delicate neutrals to suffused pastel shades, from rich, intense shades to the deepest colours, each one of the collection’s 50 colours has been designed with care to guarantee maximum aesthetic performance thanks to the use of special, mainly mineral, pigments that offer unprecedented chromatic quality. The absence of excessively bright or vivid colours leaves room for a very measured balance of colours, in which elegance, freshness, modernity and international taste are expressed to the maximum. "My favourite tones in the Kerakoll collection are the ones that create contrast," Gamper closes. "Some yellows, reds, and blues.... the world would be pretty sad without colour!"
