02/07/2024 - The new Solitude Lounge Chair by Kristina Dam Studio is a unique blend of solids and voids, juxtaposing elemental geometries to create a striking piece of furniture. It is composed of a voluminous, upholstered, barrel-shaped block for the seat, subtly raised from the floor. Five tubular steel vertical members support the base and the two cylindrical armrests.

The distinctive feature of the Solitude Chair is the asymmetrical placement of the armrests. Each differs not only in form but also in height, creating a sculptural dynamism offering a different view from each perspective. One side is a shorter, straight - perhaps more traditional - cylinder, while the other is a higher, quarter-oval shape, adding an element of visual interest.

This gesture of thoughtful asymmetry encourages a variety of seating configurations for the user, from a more formal upright position to a more casual one with legs draped over one or the other of the armrests. While distinctive in form, the chair maintains its minimalist roots, making it suitable for a diverse range of spatial contexts.
