13/05/2019 - During NYCxDESIGN, Henrybuilt will present Common Ground, a showroom installation by Dylan Davis and Jean Lee of Ladies & Gentlemen Studio. The duo conceived the show based on their history working with Henrybuilt and the resulting overlap of the two brands’ values, references, and methodologies. Ladies & Gentlemen will showcase new lighting and styled vignettes throughout the gallery space, responding to the Henrybuilt system’s elegant functionality by supplementing it with organic forms and soft materiality. Materic objects that take up space in new ways mark Ladies & Gentlemen Studio's collections. The new lighting products from its growing collection will feature in New York. Myrna, shown for the first time in the United States, is a new collection that uses color, shape, and materiality to define intimate spaces through light. Embracing the naturally sinuous qualities of sheet materials, Myrna expresses simple, sculptural gestures that add warmth and dimension to interior volumes. A selection of glass and metal versions of the series will provide lighting for the Still / Life space. Portal by Henrybuilt

Additionally, the installation will mark the debut of Iso, a wall mounted plug-in overhead lamp conceived as an impactful alternative for overhead lighting in spaces where ceiling mounting is a challenge. The exhibition will feature other staples from the company’s lineup along with vignette styling throughout the space. Color Box by Henrybuilt

Henrybuilt recently added four groups of furniture to the company’s system—examples of which will be on view during Common Ground. Using varied colors, values, and textures, Portal—inspired by the forms in Ellsworth Kelly’s paintings—is simultaneously organic and disciplined. Providence juts onto the scene with its bold triangular shape, while the Fluted Group, featuring its namesake detailing, introduces a quiet decorative moment against a minimalist backdrop. Color Box is not afraid to splash a vibrant hue against a muted wood tone. The end result is a contrast that conveys pure confidence.
