The name ORIGINE derives from the Latin word “origo”, which means “start”, “birth”, “source”. It appears like a bud emerging from the ground and soaring upwards towards the sky, a stem that becomes increasingly thinner. ORIGINE tells the story of man’s eternal thrust with respect to the universe, a stretched-out light that explores the infinite. Mysterious, enigmatic but comfortable, it combines the fascination of the unknown with the pleasure of a sophisticated and elegant ambient light.
'We have always thought of light as magic, a magic to seduce, and to lead, to smile and, certainly, to see', says Davide Groppi. 'We have told that light has a gender. We have told of the fundamental states of light, direct, indirect and diffuse light. For the first time in our history we have imagined a light that is able to evoke life. A sweet, embracing light, that starts from the ground and reaches the sky'.
Designed to illuminate the façades of private buildings (outdoor version) as well as internal spaces (indoor version) with purity and personality, ORIGINE sculpts and enhances every environment with its indirect light, which is intentionally non-invasive, graphic and fascinating.
'Simplicity, lightness, emotion, invention and amazement have always been the ingredients we use to invent our lamps, that we consider to be the letters of our imaginary alphabet, which we use to create anagrams, words, thoughts and, ultimately, stories of light. Each one of our lamps, our designs, embodies a story to be told. And sometimes these stories can inspire us to seek something new. ORIGINE has been presented during the dedicated digital event on May 14th. An innovative experience in search of new emotion of light. Light does not stop, light has no boundaries.
