12/04/2021 - The Pétale acoustic suspension lamps by Luceplan illuminate Twist, the new project by Odile Decq in Paris, “an office space designed as a landscape'. The completely transparent and slightly recessed façade offers a glimpse of the building’s vertical winter gardens, as well as the normal activities and movements of a company at work.

From a distance, TWIST stands out from the neighboring structures due to its three different volumes: two lower blocks plus the taller, angular end, with all the facades completely visible from afar. In the upper portion the tall volume seems to be slightly twisted, sending torsion into the vertical structure below.

TWIST reinterprets the dual and apparently contradictory idea of the need for an urban footprint, and a flight into an immaterial dimension. Its specific form sets out to reveal the shift from horizontal to vertical, from outside to inside. An environment of life and work is created that contributes to a dynamic corporate culture, acting as a welcoming container conceived to put all its users at their ease.

The collaboration with Luceplan focuses on this theme of comfort, supplying the Pétale acoustic suspension lamps (also designed by Odile Decq) to furnish all the spaces, not just offices but also meeting rooms, the dining hall, the entrance lobbies and passages.

Luminous and acoustic comfort is transformed from an auxiliary consideration to a fundamental characteristic of the design, meaning that the suspension lamps are utilized in all the shared spaces and office as true suspended ceiling elements. Rather than representing an added option following the definition of the spaces and their uses, the suspension lamps are thus a basic feature of the architectural project from the outset.

Pétale has an organic form that conceals the magic of silence inside: the body of the lamp, covered in white fabric, is composed of a sound-absorbing panel that improves acoustic comfort inside spaces.

In the Twist project, undreds of Pétale lamps in the circular version have been installed, contributing to make this a truly innovative architectural design, not just from the outside, but above all as it is experienced from the inside.
