Minimalist and sculptural. Mokkō at Design District
07/06/2018 - Amsterdam based design studio Mokkō is one of the new faces at Design District this year. The brand was launched at Dutch Design Week in 2017 and established by lawyer-turned-designer Aad Bos, who won the A’Design Award 2017-2018 with his Ensō Table design for Mokkō. This young brand exhibited a selection of its furniture collection and released two exciting new products at Design District.

Fascinated by the effects of sound, shape, color and texture on the human brain, Mokkō designed various series of acoustic panels that aim to impact more than only the acoustics of a space. The panels have tranquil colors and are covered with pure virgin wool to create a welcoming and calming effect and a soft touch. Various basic shapes are used to trigger a certain mood, which can be customized in order to create the perfect harmony to a space.

Besides the series of acoustic panels Mokkō exhibited a true statement piece desk, comprising of minimalist shapes in a strong and sculptural composition.

Selection of furniture collection
The selection of furniture to be exhibited include the tall version of the Pagoda Shelves, the A’Design Award winning Ensō Table and the Initial-A Chair, which was the first product of the Mokkō furniture collection. The Pagoda Shelves are a contestant of the District Awards, organized by Design District. With its simple yet clever tilted vertical shelves, this is a piece with a strong character and presence in the interior.
