Moulding Fabric and Form
24/01/2019 - Das Haus designer, Lucie Koldova, has created her first upholstered chair for Freifrau Sitzmöbelmanufaktur. The design is inspired by current fashion and the loose upholstery of other Freifrau chairs, with an emphasis on the femininity which the brand's name evokes. Celine by Lucy Koldova for Freifrau

The immediate impact of Celine is of a sensual and sensorial design, where fabric and form come together to create a piece that is totally representative of both brand and designer. The characteristic detail of Celine is the transition from tightly stretched, to loosely gathered material.

For Lucie Koldova, the focus was on comfort – nevertheless, her design radiates lightness, which is underscored by the free-floating seat and the elegantly formed chair-legs. Until recently, Lucie Koldova was particularly well-known for her contribution to the designing of lamps and lighting fixtures. She lays great emphasis on a symbiosis between the designer and the manufacturer – as was the case in her collaboration with Freifrau.
