06/11/2024 - MUT Design and CANTO Art Edition, under the curatorial eye of Manera Magazine, presented "Entre lo frágil y lo robusto" (Between the Fragile and the Robust). An exhibition that transcends the ordinary, inviting you to experience the delicate balance between design and art, the experimental and the intimate.

Having learned the Bodywork and Paint technique in the Villalón family workshop, they personally handcraft each table, peeling back layers of paint to reveal a psychedelic finish that celebrates industrial textures.
In the aptly entitled exhibit, Between the Fragile and the Robust, the designers juxtapose the strength of the newly interpreted volumetric and sculptural tables and the classic industrially-produced Canto collection sofas and tables with the delicacy of the cracked glass supports.
The new limited production Canto Art Edition tables challenge the industrial processes typically used by Sancal to narrate personal memories, playing with light, texture, materials and colour and removing them from their functional context to introduce them into a new perceptual and artistic dimension that creates a dynamic, immersive installation.
Of the initiative promoted by MUT, Sancal and Manera Magazine the brand states, “in a kind of performance, the Canto tables have fallen on a glass surface and broken them into fractures projecting surprising light and shadows into the walls. Next to it, the Canto sofas appear hanging to appreciate its singular shapes on small fragments of glass.”
Canto is a modular furnishing system composed of a seating element and a monolithic table. The modules that play with the juxtaposition of geometric precision with a soft, sculptural presence can be combined to form an almost endless number of configurations and compositions, including sofas, armchairs, islands and more.
