‘I was exposed to Raphael’s work two years ago during an exhibition’, says Nicolas Roche, Art Director of Roche Bobois. ‘I was impressed by his very unique and modern approach to woodwork. Raphael’s style is not specific to any one culture, space, or time. The Identities chairs, the Underline sofa, and the Walrus armchair all have a classic style and are familiar, yet offer something that hasn’t been seen before’.
Roche Bobois @ Salone del MobilePresented last January and extended for the Salone del Mobile, Nativ assembles in a traditional way the most noble materials and displays them in their simplest form. The leathers have the richness of their imperfections, the wood is solid, raw or grained, and the wool shows its original variations of color.
PatchworkA dialogue between culture and nature, geometric mastery and spontaneous forms. The Patchwork table showcases the marquetry craftmanship of its makers, composed of 320 pieces of wood assembled like a puzzle. The wood grain varies on each piece to bring out the nuances of the rich material. The seal that highlights the graphics of the tray can be closed for dining tables, or open to be used in other rooms.
PrimordialPrimordial is a bookcase in molded polyurethane with a stone-like finish. With its irregular and mineral features, is reminiscent of a tribal object, like a bookshelf built from clay and dirt thousands of years ago, like a sculpture.
CuriosityInspired by the cabinet of curiosities of the 16th century, Curiosity is a bookcase constructed of elements of different shapes that blend together to create a unique ensemble/piece. Each element has an irregular configuration and consists of different storage spaces. Once assembled, these elements can transform walls or corners into fluid curves, as well as modify depths, allowing a wide range of compositions.
UnderlineThe Underline series of seating with a combination of leather and fabric upholstery to emphasize the silhouette of its soft duvet.
The new Nativ pieces also include the Fly suspension light; the Identities family chairs, with variable geometric backrests and enveloping comfort; and Walrus, the Scandinavian-style armchair.
