Quasar presents
Kengi, the new lamp designed by
Sybille van Gammeren inspired by the Physalis Alkekengi plant more known as the Bladder Cherry or Chinese Lantern.
Because of the designer’s personal love for the Art Deco style she abstracted the floral shape. Not only by simplifying the shape itself, but also by working with specific materials. The Kengi therefore is still organic in look and feel and strong in detailed construction. The cotton cable is a specific part of the design that threaded like a branch is reaching for the sun.
The
Kengi by
Quasar is available in three sizes: 45cm, 75cm and 100cm and three finishes: brass, polished aluminium and structured black. As the cable is a specific part of the design, the finish of each structure is paired with its own coloured cotton cable. The brass fixture standardly goes with a green cable. Polished aluminium goes with an anthracite cable and black comes with a red cable. Even the thickness of the cable increases with the size of the fixture.
Every Kengi is unique, featuring its own mouth-blown glass ball. The cloudy effect in the glass is never the same. The glass is available in three colours: white, green and amber.
Playing with the three sizes on different heights creates a modern fairytale ambiance.
